Miss Tait has been successful in getting a new teaching post!
She is now the Principal teacher at Kinmylies Primary School. We will miss her alot but she will be ace in her new job!
Well done, we are all proud of you
Our reading group (Lewis, Ruari, Isabel, Rhiannon and Ruben) chose our new reading book from the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize Winners. We thought it looked the most enjoyable. Some of us went to town with Mr Graham to buy our new book and we can’t wait to start reading it!
P5-7 have been working hard all term on our library redesign project and have now ordered our new bookcases! We can’t wait to have new furniture to put all our new books on! It has been a lot of hard work but so far we have:
This week we are starting to make our adverts for the new library – watch this space for the finished items!
P5-7 Homework for this week:
1) Personal Reading (record in reading records)
2) Spelling (see sheet attached below)
3) Author Study
Spelling words sheets are attached below. If you cannot access it, paper copies will be available when we are back.
Please find a selection of Author Profiles below to help you with your author study homework.
Oh dear! I’m guessing my sunshine dance at the weekend didn’t work then? I hear things are really bad out in Stratherrick, Seona has been keeping us updated with her photos over the weekend!
Unfortunately that means that we are closed again today, so please find work for today listed below:
Writing (P1-7)
- Write about your weekend/days off and what you have been getting up to in the snow. P1 should be attempting a few sentences, P2-7 should be writing at least half a page. Try to include as many adjectives and as much description as possible (P5-7 try and beat your score from last week!)
Reading (P1-4)
- Read a story of your choice and come up with 5 tricky questions about the story for someone else to answer.
Reading (P5-7)
- Continue with your author study – I am expecting great things given all the time you have had to complete it! I will be posting author factfiles on the blog later for those of you who might need one.
Maths (P1-7)
- Use the Woodlands Junior School link below to play one of their maths games for your stage e.g.
P1/2: Addition and subtraction
p3-7: Multiplication, division, place value, money problems etc.

There are some really good games here, try a few and let me know how you get on. If you are in my maths class and still not feeling confident about multiplying then please also practise by making yourself some sums to complete.
Please note if anyone has Football match team entries for Friday please reply as a comment on the blog with the details, or email me on catriona.tait@hcs.uhi.ac.uk so I can start organising things for Friday. Also email me with any photos of snow in gardens, fields etc and fun you have been having on your snow days and we will post them on the blog as soon as I receive them!
Thanks everyone, lets all keep fingers and toes crossed we get back tomorrow! Stay safe!
Miss T.
The Garden Tidy up scheduled for tomorrow morning (12th March) is postponed due to weather conditions. We will be in touch with a rescheduled date as soon as it is arranged.
Oh no! Not again!
What a shame! More snow last night means we are again closed today.
Lets all hope things clear up over the weekend, no-one is looking forward to summer more than me!
Please choose some of the work posted on Wednesday to complete today, my maths group give yourselves some even trickier sums! Try 5, 6 or 7 numbers to multiply for a challenge, e.g.
4 5 8 1 2 7
x 8

for those of you who weren’t sure.
Thank you to everyone who completed work on Wednesday, I enjoyed reading it last night, Liam, Duncan and Abi your sums were fantastic well done! My class (P5-7) I have seen some great work started on your author studies, I am really looking forward to getting these in, in a few weeks time.
Whatever you are doing at the weekend, enjoy it! Millie – good luck for your competition, I am sure you will be fabulous!
Myself, I’ll be doing a ‘snow-melting-and-sunshine-coming’ dance, and getting the patio furniture out, all set for that tropical weather we are due next week!
Miss Tait
Oh no! More snow!
We knew it was coming but hopefully it wont last long. Road conditions were just horrendous this morning. Miss Tait was shocked when she woke up to see quite so much snow on her doorstep in town!
Work for Wednesday 9th March:
Reading
P1-4: Design a new front cover and title for a book you have read, or write an alternative ending for your favourite story.
P5-7: Start your author study project!
Maths
P1 – Make a poster showing any 2D and 3D shapes you can find in your home or garden (or out in the snow!)
P2 – Measure the lengths of 10 things in your house using a ruler, tape measure or metre stick (if you have one!). If you don’t have any of these, measure them in hand spans!
P3-7 – Write 8 tricky multiplication sums and answer them using:
Gp 3* (Mrs Bryant) – 2 digits x 2,3, or 4
Gp 3 – 4 digits x any number
Gp 4 – 5 digits x any number
Rest of P7 – 6 digits x any number
PE
If the weather gets better make sure you get out in the snow and enjoy it!
Fingers crossed we will be back tomorrow! P5-7 your Secret Student reward movie afternoon will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, don’t worry!
Work hard and enjoy!
Mr Graham is loving his, sorry the schools, new iPad!!
The trick will be trying to keep Miss Tait from playing with it!!
